Emily is a first-year Master of Public Health student and Presidential Fellow at the George Washington University. She recently graduated from GWU in May 2021 with a B.A. in Communication and minors in Public Health and American Studies. Emily is interested in the intersection of public health and racial disparities, specifically in mental healthcare accessibility and the role of cultural competency in patient-provider communication. She hopes to work in the field of health education — promoting health equity to address disproportionate impacts on LGBTQIA2S+ populations and people of color. She hopes to further explore these topics throughout her coursework and to collaborate with community members and leaders to better understand how to ensure equity within the U.S. healthcare.
